Curriculum Overview

Currently serving grades kindergarten - 9th, while adding a grade each year.

Compass has developed our own Standards of Learning that backbone with the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL). As priority, we have made a deliberate decision to adopt the SOL as a means of meeting the needs of our community. There is a common saying among parents “each child, each year” used when making academic choices. Flexibility to transfer in and out of public schools, without academic disruption. Additionally, the SOL provides pacing guidelines. We want to be clear that we are utilizing the SOL curriculum framework and not the SOL assessments.

rigorous & differentiated

Compass Academy will challenge students to think for themselves, problem solve, and analyze the content. We recognize that every child has a different starting point, and way of getting to the finish line. Our teachers know how to adapt and pivot to ensure that every child succeeds.
